I am constantly working on planning our next adventure! Here are some of my favorite travel planning resources that will help you save some money when planning your next getaway!
Where to Stay
Booking.com – This is my favorite site for searching hotels. They always find great deals and offer free cancellation if something comes up and you need to change your plans.
Airbnb – I love using Airbnb to find places to stay when we are traveling to new cities. It can be so much nicer to stay in a house or condo rather than a hotel, especially if you’re staying for a longer trip. Sign up using this link and get a $20 credit for your first reservation!
Hipcamp – We love camping, and it’s a great way to save some money on a longer trip. On our road trips across the country and through Oregon, I alternated a few days of camping with a few nights in a hotel or Airbnb, and it was a great way for us to keep our costs down and make the trip way more affordable. Hipcamp is a really cool new site that lets you search for campgrounds in an area. You can filter on pet friendly, etc, to find the perfect place for your needs.
How to Get There
Kayak – I love using Kayak to search for flights. It’s a convenient way to search for the best deals on multiple airlines
How to Get Around
Uber and Lyft are my new favorite ways to get around in a new city. Simply pull up the app and request a ride! A convenient and more affordable way to get from place to place. Sign up using these links to get a $15 Uber credit and $50 in Lyft credits!
What to Do
TripAdvisor – Tripadvisor is my all-time favorite travel resource. The reviews and information you can get from this site are incredible. There are so many knowledgeable travelers sharing their tips and travel advice for every location you could imagine. In addition to searching for things to do in specific locations, make sure you check out the forums. Often there are experts for locations that can help you figure out the best itinerary if you’re planning an extended trip. I used the forums a lot when planning our cross-country road trip in order to find the best route to maximize our time in the National Parks. I use Tripadvisor a lot when we’re driving through new cities and we need to stop for a meal. We’ve found some amazing restaurants this way and have never been disappointed!
CityPASS – This is an amazing option if you’re visiting a larger city like Seattle, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Atlanta….. If you’re going to be in one of these cities for multiple days, check out the CityPASS. It offers admission to many of the main attractions in these cities for a majorly discounted price.
Groupon – Groupon is another one of my favorite ways to find unique things to do in a new city. Search in the “Local” section for offers nearby – often you can get great deals at restaurants, too! Groupon Getaways are a great way to find ideas for a weekend away. There are tons of cute B&B’s with great deals, and they even have travel packages for longer trips to other countries.
