July Cairn Box Review

A few months ago J signed us up for a Cairn box subscription, and we love it! Each month Cairn sends you 4-5 new products, featuring outdoor gear and food/snacks. It’s been a great way for us to discover new items to take with us on our outdoor adventures.

A few days ago we received our July box – here’s what we got!

1. Klymit Pillow X ($30 value)

I am SO excited to try out this inflatable pillow! It’s designed to be self centering so that your head stays on the pillow throughout the night. I know you’re supposed to be roughing it while camping and backpacking, but it will be so nice to have an actual pillow to sleep on! I love that this is so lightweight (2 oz!) and packs up so small (size of a lighter!), but then can easily be blown up into a nice sized pillow.

 

2. Sierra Sage Bugs Be Gone ($8 value)

This bug spray is a blend of organic herbs and essential oils and is safe to spray on your skin. We’ve had a lot more bugs than usual this year out here in the Pacific Northwest, and it’ll be nice to have a natural alternative to the normal bugspray with Deet!

3. Munk Pack Blueberry Açai Flax Oatmeal ($2.50 value)

I am always trying to find new snacks to pack for our hikes, and I am looking forward to testing this out. It’s a fruit squeeze that also contains whole grains and oats to help give you energy throughout the day. One pack is 100 calories and contains 2g of protein and 22g of carbs.

4. Mountain House Neapolitan Ice Cream ($3 value)

Ice cream! We love Mountain House freeze dried meals, so I can’t wait to try out the ice cream! J has warned me not to get my hopes up too high about freeze dried ice cream, but hey, when you’re backpacking, I think everything tastes amazing! And how can you go wrong with ice cream? I’ll be sure to report back on this one 🙂

 

I’m pretty excited for this month’s box, and as you can see, it’s a great value – we received $43.50 worth of products for only $25! Another thing I love about these boxes is that they also give you coupons to be able to buy more of each of the products at a discounted price. I’m pretty sure we’ll be buying another Klymit Pillow X, and we are always buying Mountain House meals for our backpacking trips.
